Nancy A. Ciolek – Design Consultant
Serving as the Design Consultant for Idea Connection Systems, Nancy focuses on effective visual communication materials for the products and services of the company. From publications to web management to digital presentations, Nancy brings over 20 years of design experience with a clear understanding of effective information design. She holds an MFA in Graphic Design from Indiana State University.
Currently, Nancy is an Associate Professor in the School of Design, College of Imaging Arts and Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). During her time at RIT, Nancy served for five years as the first Administrative Chair for the RIT School of Design, and then as Graduate Program Chair for the Computer Graphics Design MFA. She has traveled across the country as a lecturer at other universities, for RIT recruiting, and attending and presenting at professional conferences. Recently, she presented at the 33rd annual SIGGRAPH conference for Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques. The topic was Designing Visual Information for Global Audiences.
Nancy has also served as an education consultant for the Departments of Higher Education in the states of New York and Connecticut. Her publications include a critical essay on Bradbury Thompson for Contemporary Masterworks book published by St. James Press (UK), a white paper, Culture and Design: Influences and Impact, for IDS Publishing/Media 2005 (online), and in the ACM SIGGRAPH Conference Proceedings. She is a participating member of the Education Committee for ACM SIGGRAPH, a member of Design Exchange (Toronto, Ontario, Ca) and an inductee of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society (for academics). Nancy has also been listed in Who’s Who in Higher Education.
Having lived in Texas, Germany, Canada, Indiana, and New York, Nancy brings a global diversity perspective to her work as a designer. She resides in Rochester, NY.
