Becky Murphy– Executive Associate
Senior consultant, workshop coordinator, lecturer and public speaker with more than twenty-five years experience in over thirty countries, Becky Murphy is an irreplaceable asset to our company. Becky is proficient in designing and delivering workshops and training programs within the United Nations System, in the private sector, in educational institutions and in other organizations. Her areas of expertise include organizational development with a particular focus on cross-cultural enrichment and individual and collective leadership.
Becky was the Co-Founder and Director of the African Institute on Leadership and Governance. As Director, she was responsible for designing and delivering Leadership programs in African organizations with a particular focus on the leadership role of educators in social change and development.
As Director of Program Development for Idea Connection Systems from 1996 to 1998, Becky directed and managed the department responsible for the research, design, and development of training materials for many workshops and training programs.
As Merger Coordinator, she managed elements of a merger between Idea Connection Systems, and a consulting and communications firm, Corea & Eibel. She examined the corporate cultures of the merging organizations and designed strategies to facilitate a successful merger by diffusing potential cross-cultural incompatibilities.
As a Senior Consultant, Becky delivered training sessions on creating high performance organizations. Training areas included: Team Dynamics and Team Development; Decision Making; Leadership; Cognitive Diversity; Cross-Cultural Communication; Creating Alignment within Organizations; and Releasing Human Potential.
From 1993 until 1996, Becky served as the United Nations Representative of a major international non-governmental organization. Her responsibilities included educating grass-roots institutions and individuals in over thirteen hundred localities throughout the United States on the work of the United Nations. She helped individuals to understand issues of global governance; helped with the ratification of UN Conventions by the United States; addressed gender issues and the creation of violence free families; combated anti-UN sentiments; assisted local communities to support worldwide efforts of UN specialized agencies such as UNICEF and UNESCO; assisted local communities in organizing celebrations for United Nations events (United Nations Day, Human Rights Day, International Year of the Family); and developed guidelines for coordinating local participation in United Nations conferences including the Earth Summit in 1992 and United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women, Beijing, China in 1995.
Born in Ethiopia, her primary and secondary education was completed in Ethiopia, Russia and India. Becky has traveled to 68 countries on four continents and speaks fluent English and Amharic. She has been married since 1973 and is the mother of three sons and the grandmother of two girls.
