Marvin Jackson [Sr. Consultant Education and Government Systems]

Marvin Jackson
A military veteran and former law enforcement officer, Marvin, also known as “Marco”, joined Idea Connection Systems in the summer of 2011 as a Senior Consultant in Education and Government Systems. He holds an undergraduate degree in Management of Human Resources and brings with him over 35 years of leadership, management and consulting experience in the aerospace and government markets.

Marvin brings a wealth of urban education policy-making and education leadership knowledge and experience from school systems and local government organizations having served as Commissioner of Schools – a publically elected fiduciary – overseeing 39,000 students/5,500 employees in the Rochester, NY City School District. He has overseen policy development, budget and finance, human resources and strategic development efforts that led to significant “quantifiable” gains for the District.

Marvin has led efforts developing District priorities in labor contract negotiations and has been on international teams researching education leadership. This has given him a unique understanding of the human dynamics and challenges facing school systems from a global perspective. Particularly interested in improving organizational leadership effectiveness in public school systems, Marvin understands that Organizations DON’T Innovate…People DO!

While serving in industry, Marvin provided leadership on key projects in complex matrixed organizational environments. While at Eastman Kodak, one of his many responsibilities was serving as an Internal Management Consultant on the implementation of high performance work teams and leadership transition. Particularly interested in analyzing and recommending organizational change for maximizing progress against goals, Marvin has built and managed organizations from the “ground up”, with “real world” experience in dealing with the human dynamics of innovation in both public and private institutions.
