Jane Bassatt-Winchell

Idea Connections Systems consultant in the Bay Area, Jane Bassatt Winchell,  was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.  Jane enjoyed the good fortune to participate in Rochester, New York’s Urban Suburban Program (Middle thru High School) a public program designed to redress racism and inequalities in education.  She took both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Legal Studies and Social Work (2008) from New York State University at Buffalo and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in 2011.  She worked in Buffalo, NY in addiction treatment and family therapy and went on to the VA’s program for homeless substance using Veterans in New Haven, Connecticut.  In 2012 she was recruited and currently serves as Coordinator of the PTSD Clinic in San Jose, California where she  practices multiple evidence based therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure as well as Motivational Interviewing. Most recently she has joined the staff of Cal State, Eastbay as an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate Social Work Program.


Janes’ passion for making a  tangible contribution to improve our world has been fueled by early learning experiences in the Quaker Meeting where as a teen she trained in the Alternatives to Violence Program  gaining a working understanding of communication building, problem solving and transforming power and group dynamics . In college she was active in Rape Prevention and Intervention programs . She now serves in corporate settings in the areas of conflict resolution, team development and coaching.
